WHAT ARE WE DOING?

READING: Please have your child read "Where Do Frogs Come From" to you in their blue reading books. Review all highlighted words in the story. All books should be returned on Monday. We are working on the -ing sound. We also did some readers theatre with this story, so please look for the videos to be posted on the blog sometime today.

In Reading Workshop, students are learning to Visualize. Students are learning to feel, see, taste, smell, and hear their stories.

SPELLING: Students took their practice test today. If they have a +10 on their test, they WILL NOT take the first 10 words on THURSDAY. However, they will take the challenge words. If your child missed any words on the pretest they will take the entire test. I have included a tab that gives you some ideas for practicing spelling.

MATH: We are still working on counting combinations of nickels and pennies, telling time to the 1/2 hour, and adding numbers.. Please continue to work with your child on these skills at home as well. Please let your child DO their homework and you check over it. This will help them when their working in their math journals at school. Are you using the extra math journal at home? This is great extra practice for them as well.

SCIENCE: Bat projects were AMAZING! Kudos to everyone! Job well done!

REMINDER: Halloween Party on Monday!

Friday, October 7

The first thing I would like to address this week is HOMEWORK. There have been MANY students this week who have not done their homework. I cannot stress enough the importance of having your child do their homework that night and having them turn it in the following day.  This is apart of our report card and I DO record it for their grade. Not having students return their homework in older grades will dramatically affect their report card. Please have them bring it back on time. Thank you so much with your help with this. I don't want students to get complacent that they can turn their homework in whenever they want. I do understand that things come up from time to time, but please send me an e-mail or note in regards to that. Thanks so much for your help!

The spelling list will continue to get harder as the year progresses. I have included a tab that gives you some ideas for practicing spelling.
