WELCOME BACK!

I hope everyone had a very restful Winter break. It was nice to see your child's smiling face on Wednesday anxious to get back into the swing of things. This week we have just taken a moment to get back into the swing of things. Of course with the new year comes CHANGES! Oh boy! I know. This class runs so smoothly I have not made many changes at all. However, I do need to make some curriculum changes in Math to prepare them for great success in 2nd grade.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: I would like for you to purchase flashcards for your child or you can even make them. We will begin an intense study of students learning their math facts. Students will have a math quiz EVERY THURSDAY. Yes, I will count these for a grade. Their first math quiz will be January 19th. The quiz consists of 16 problems in paper format so they'll be writing their answer down. It will be over +1's. For example, 1+1, 2+1, 3+1, 4+1, 5+1, 6+1. Students will be given 90 seconds to complete the quiz. Practice these every night to ensure your child is ready and to lessen the anxiety of a timed test.

90TH DAY OF SCHOOL: The 90th day of school is January 10th. I am looking for a volunteer that would be willing to send in treats that day.

What's going on in December??!!

Good morning! I just wanted to give you a heads up on classroom activities for the month of December. Tonight I will be sending home the December book order. However, I would like it returned by FRIDAY to ensure that it is here on time.  If you would like for me to hold these as gifts for your child, please indicate that to me on the order form. Secondly, Wednesday, December 14th is Gingerbread Day in 1Wi.  Students will do several activities that day that pertain to the Gingerbread stories including building their very own gingerbread house that they will get to enjoy at the end of the day. J  Please see the attachment of what your child is to bring for that day.  On December 16th we will be wrapping our holiday gifts for the boys and girls we’ve adopted. We will start this activity around 12:45. Any parent volunteers are welcome. Our Holiday Party will be December 19th from 9:00-10:15. Again, we will take lots of pictures but I’m asking that only our room mothers attend due to lack of space in the room.  On Tuesday, December 20th, I welcome my students to wear their holiday pajamas  for that day. We will watch Polar Express and other holiday movies, drink hot chocolate, and eat popcorn on our last day to together until the new year.

Again thank you thank you thank you for all that you do! I absolutely love teaching this bunch of students. I tease them all the time that they’ll be with me until they turn 18.  J Great job on homework last night!

Have a good day!
