Help Wanted---Reading Coaches
I am looking for 1-4 parent volunteers that would be willing and able to come read with my kids one day every week. You would listen to different students read to you from 9:15-9:45. This is our "reading practice" time. I want somebody that can be here every week so the kids get in the routine of reading with the same people. If you are interested, please email me. Thanks so much!

READING: Please have your child read "All That Corn" to you in their blue reading books. Review all highlighted words in the story. All books should be returned on MONDAY. We are working on the -all word family.
In Reading Workshop, students are learning to make MEANINGFUL connections to their book. They learned that some of their connections are not helping them understand the story better. Students should be making connections throughout their books at home as well. . This part of the book reminded me of.... Start getting your child in the habit of making meaningful connections to their book as their reading books to you. This will help them understand the story better.
SPELLING:>>>>>>NOTICE CHANGE>>>>>> Students took their practice test today. If they have a +10 on their test, they WILL NOT take the test the first 10 words on THURSDAY. However, they will take the challenge words. If your child missed any words on the present they will take the entire test. Please get in the habit of practicing spelling words EVERY NIGHT. The spelling list will continue to get harder as the year progresses. I have included a tab that gives you some ideas for practicing spelling.
MATH: We are working on counting combinations of nickels and pennies. Please continue to work with your child on this skill at home as well. YOU WILL BE SEEING MATH HOMEWORK COME HOME EVERY WEDNESDAY. IT WILL NEED TO BE RETURNED ON THURSDAY. I have noticed a lot of gaps in their math skills so I want to make sure everyone is on the same page. Please let your child DO their homework and you check over it. This will help them when their working in their math journals at school.
SCIENCE: We are discussing how plants and animals live in the different habitats. Bat projects are coming soon!
